Denver 7th-best city for college graduates

DENVER (KDVR) — Denver is among the best cities in the country for recent college graduates, according to a new study. Apartment Advisor ranked the largest 84 U.S. cities by their respective economics, desirability and rent prices. Economic factors included education, income levels, employment and cost of living. Desirability included the proportion of young people, walkability, and the density of nightlife. The lower the average weighted score of all factors, the higher the city ranked. What’s a ‘middle class’ income in Denver these days? Denver ranked seventh among the largest metros with a total score of 29.7.Denver is famously expensive with a median one-bedroom rent of $1,700 per month, which is the nation's eleventh highest. Commerce City to hold council meeting following hit-and-run that killed a teen

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (KDVR) — Monday night, a city council meeting in Commerce City will focus on how out to make the community safer following a deadly hit-and-run incident.Ahead of the meeting, the city sent FOX31 a statement saying, “While this incident occurred on a stretch of roadway that falls outside the city’s jurisdiction, the city is currently evaluating opportunities to improve traffic safety, reduce driver speeds, and increase enforcement in and around school zones within the city. DENVER (KDVR) — This summer, you have the chance to watch some of the most popular new releases and classic movies in a theatre that dates back to 1896. The Historic Elitch Theatre announced its 2023 Summer Film Series. Denver Botanic Gardens announces lineup for summer concert series The theatre is inviting all movie fanatics to enjoy some blockbuster films in Denver's first movie venue. According to Elitch Theatre, the venue held the first moving picture screening in the West back in 1896 with Thomas Edison's groundbreaking technology known as the Vitascope. "On Aug. 14, 1896, Mary Elitch introduced guests of the Gardens to the Edison Vitascope. Theywere the first in the West to share the experience of seeing moving pictures on a screen. The Miami-Opa Locka Airport was filled with laughter and joy on Saturday at “A Special Day for Special Kids,” an event designed for children with special needs and their families. The event was made possible by Vital Flight, a non-profit organization that coordinates free transportation and life-changing experiences for those in need of compassionate, medical, or emotional support. The event was a hit with the families, who enjoyed airplane rides, food, and entertainment throughout the day. For many children, airplane rides were the highlight of the event, as they had the opportunity to experience the thrill of flying. Earlier this morning severe storms rolled through parts of Miami-Dade producing significant wind gusts. Plenty of deep moisture is in place once again. A weak cold front will continue moving through the Florida Peninsula today and slow down as it approaches South Florida. That in combination with a disturbance in the upper atmosphere is expected to provide enough lift for another round of afternoon and evening showers and storms with most of the activity happening in the Eastern half of the region. By the afternoon (3pm), a few storms that develop could contain periods of heavy rain and gusty winds. Models are pointing towards coastal Miami-Dade county with the highest risk for strongest storms and heavier rain wherever they setup shop. A few showers may linger Monday night into Tuesday, but they should come to an end as high pressure builds over the Southeast United States due to the front moving South of our area.
